Whole vehicle 4 primary load case calculations:
Load Case
1
Unladen Weight / Curb Mass
This is the main reference load case when it comes to vehicle weight engineering. This forms the basis of all boundary calculations along with outward facing weight data for the product.
Load Case
2
Weight/Mass Distribution
Once we know the Unladen mass, the organic next step is to know how that mass is distributed across the vehicle's axles. With paramteric modelling we calculate the distribution to a high degree of accuracy.
Load Case
3
Gross Axle Weight, GAW/GAWR
The gross axle weights for each axle starts defining the upper limit of our load cases. This is where we take into account the total masses each axle must be capable of bearing, passenger loads, towing loads, luggage loads which then feed into subsequent design parameters e.g. braking system, gearbox/drivetrain, wheels and tyres., trailer capacity.
Load Case
4
Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW)
GVW is the maximum permissible laden mass of the vehicle and is the most commonly used legal term when it comes to weight management. This weight boundary condition is critical to understanding how much optional equipment, payload and build tolerance is provisioned for in the design of the vehicle.
Vehicle Inertia Reports
With our modelling techniques we can predict the Vehicle Interia in the three main axes. These are critical parametrs for both safety and vehicle dynamic calculations and gives those customer teams a head start in the design development phase.
Project content and weight distribution impacts.
With the added benefit of being able to calculate weight distribution based on content location, we can advise how to package and where to add content to protect the desired weight distribution of the vehicle.
Vehicle Build Validation

Part and Sub-system weighing
We have extensive experience of validation system, sub system and component weighing at vehicle builds using the Bill of Material (BOM). Thus, we can validate the exact weight of your car.

Prototye Build Validation
This is the main source of the truth for any vehicle project - a full vehicle. We undertand how important it is to capture weight at vehicle builds and we can have a team dedicated to support your prototype builds.
